Tamworth is a hot and dry place and unless you like country music its probably not your type of town. It is a rather large town that services the outlying areas

Tamworth is the home of the country music festival. If you are into country music this is the place to be when it is on. The town gets very busy but is well worth it. Some other nice places to visit while in Tamworth are Split Rock Dam and Lake Keepit. Beautiful scenery and photo opportunities. te locals here are fantastic as well.

Tamworth as said previously by other reviewers is the Country Music Festival capital of Australia so if that\'s your music January is the great time for you. Otherwise Tamworth and Armidale vie for the capital of New England region.

Tamworth is like any other country town until January every year when the town comes alive thanks to the Tamworth Country Music Festival. I am so glad I have the opportunity to say that I believe that every Australian should visit Tamworth and the Country Music Festival even if they dont like country music. It is really truely Australian and a real experience. At the festival time there is music everywhere and most of it is free. People travel from all over Australia to attend this festival. Accomodation is hard to find when the festival is on and you need to book ahead. Try and get air conditioning because it is Hot.
